As we enter 2026, Honiton & Sidmouth Conservatives are clear about one thing: local Conservatives are doing things differently for a change.
Over the past year, residents have seen failure and frustration from Labour, the Liberal Democrats and Reform, whether on Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, or in Westminster. Broken promises, higher taxes, poor service delivery and our Lib Dem MP Richard Foord, who is missing when it matters most have left many people disillusioned with politics.
That’s why 2026 is about change, action, and rebuilding trust.
This year, we are launching a series of local campaigns focused on the issues residents raise with us time and time again, from farming and energy, to transport, immigration, infrastructure and the cost of living. We will continue to expose failure and hold others to account, while putting forward practical, common-sense Conservative policies rooted in our communities.
We are also investing in our local association. That means:
- More frequent, better quality events and fundraisers that members and supporters genuinely want to attend
- Stronger engagement with local residents and members through our newly appointed Division Organisers
- A growing, motivated team of activists and volunteers
Crucially, 2026 is about building for the future. We are developing a strong team of local council candidates ready to take the fight to the Liberal Democrats and Reform in the 2027 elections, and we will be selecting a parliamentary candidate to challenge our missing-in-action MP, Richard Foord, at the next General Election.
This year will be transformative for Honiton & Sidmouth Conservatives, but real change only happens when people get involved.
2026 starts now.
