Honiton & Sidmouth Conservatives were out campaigning in parts of Newbridges ward as part of our first campaign of 2026 on farming, energy and the environment.
We spoke with residents about key local and national issues, including the Family Farms Tax, proposals for solar farms on agricultural grade land, regenerative farming, and Net Zero. Across Honiton & Sidmouth, people are increasingly frustrated with their Liberal Democrat MP Richard Foord for failing to stand up for farming communities over the Family Farms Tax, as well as the Liberal Democrat–led council’s failure to tackle worsening potholes since taking control in May.
Residents also raised concerns about the wider impact of the Labour government and the lack of action locally to stand up for Devon’s rural communities.
We also discussed the impact of recent storm damage, with Storm Chandra hitting East and Mid Devon particularly hard. It has been heartening to see local communities pulling together in difficult circumstances, and our thoughts are with all the families affected.
Honiton & Sidmouth Conservatives will continue campaigning across the constituency, listening to residents and standing up for local communities.
