Residents in Monkton, Rawridge and surrounding villages have faced longstanding problems caused by traffic and road conditions along the A303/A30 corridor. Narrow road sections, heavy vehicle movements, poor visibility, and repeated disruption from roadworks have created serious concerns about safety and reliability.
This campaign calls for a long-term bypass solution, alongside immediate improvements to local road infrastructure.
We are asking local residents, commuters, and businesses to support calling on Devon County Council & East Devon District Council to improve roads in Monkton and Rawridge.
Evidence from the area shows persistent infrastructure issues, including:
- Narrow road widths in parts of Monkton, making it difficult for vehicles to pass safely
- Heavy use of local roads by HGVs and through-traffic
- Poor road surfaces, potholes, and drainage problems leading to standing water
- Limited pedestrian safety on routes used by residents
- Repeated disruption from closures and maintenance works on the A30
These problems affect daily life, access to services, and overall road safety.
Sign the petition to support:
- A bypass solution for Monkton and the surrounding A303/A30 corridor
- Reduced through-traffic in residential areas
- Safer roads for pedestrians, cyclists and drivers
- Long-term investment in local road infrastructure
Your support will help demonstrate the scale of concern and strengthen the case for action.
